How many artists / producers can count Jay Z, Snoop Dogg and Pharell as fans as well as drum and bass’ finest Andy C, Hype and Pendulum enjoy heavy rotation in the hands of dub-step royalty such as N-Type and Skream and have each release enthusiastically supported by Annie Mac and Zane Lowe? This is what Saul Milton and Will Kennard, producing under the name Chase & Status, have achieved in 5 years, and the highlight of their young career so far has been their debut LP ‘More Than Alot’ which has helped turned them into a unique urban phenomenon, and the biggest crossover act to come out of the underground since Pendulum.,They met at Manchester University through their mutual love of drum and bass in the mid nineties and have DJ’d ever since, waiting until 2004 for their first production, a remix for Future Cut (better known these days for their production work with Lily Allen).
It makes for a refreshingly authentic and human to her burgeoning career in music, a gift that makes curious onlookers instant fans. Kristensen embodies this, giving the best show of herself in any given point of time without being performative or buttoned-up. There’s also the perfection of imperfection in a flash of energy, a sense of freedom in the face of stultifying codes and norms. The character she exudes as a person, and not just a playlist-for-hire, mirrors it too: a whirlwind in the booth, it’s rare not to see her wide grin glinting through a motion blur of fader tricks, sashaying and vigorous air drumming. There are a few reasons it’s a snug fit: for a start, the immediate associations are smoke and strobes, lasers and lights, big-league rave bliss and barely-marshalled sonic chaos that is to say, maximum fun from a dancefloor perspective, something Kristensen keenly channels as a DJ. If you had to melt down the appeal of Anastasia Kristensen to just two words, it could well be ‘energy flash’. Hawtin has continued pushing the limits of technology, developing highly conceptual events which are often intertwined with the art world.

Initially based in Windsor, Ontario and connected with the techno scene in nearby Detroit, he co-founded the highly influential Plus 8 (and its harder sublabel Probe Records) along with John Acquaviva, later establishing Minus and relocating to Berlin during the early 2000s, just as minimal techno began receiving mainstream exposure. Most famous for his experimental acid techno productions as Plastikman, including the classic albums Musik (1994) and Consumed (1998), he is equally well-regarded for his groundbreaking live sets and mix CDs (especially 1999's Decks, EFX & 909) which utilize cutting-edge DJ technology, fusing loops of techno records with additional synthesizers and drum machines. Richie Hawtin played an essential role in developing the sound of minimal techno, as well as spreading its popularity throughout the global club scene. Meanwhile, Sónar, Awakenings, Dockyard, ADE, Neopop, BPM, Electric Zoo, Movement Detroit, Time Warp and Tomorrowland are some of the many festivals he has played. From Fabric London to WOMB Tokyo, passing through Space NYC, Space Miami, Verboten New York, Watergate Berlin and Electric Brixton London. The list of events in which he has played is endless, and is one where quality is more important than quantity.

Every session is important to Paco and he sets out to invent and renew every time he steps onto the stage. On the dance floor, he is lively, intelligent and sophisticated, with a deep awareness for sound aesthetics.
